The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger Over Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
