A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to question if his ability to play at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued four early break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
